Lo que dice el Arxiduc:

“The true anchoring site on the island is Alexandros, old Drepano Gulf. Here the boats, even the largest ones, are completely protected on all sides. It’s open to the south, and there, not very far away, Kastos Island stands out like an imposing bastion. As such, the waves break there and can only enter the port on either side, having lost their strength when they reach the anchoring point.”

Leaving the city of Levkada, heading south, we first by pass the lagoon. The strait is clearly signaled by buoys, and its depth measures between 5 and 6 meters.

Reaching Nidri, the first thing that stands out is Spartia Island. In the photo, the island is to the left, with the entrance to Nidri Bay on the right.

Just after Spartia, we pass by the famous Skorpios Island, once belonging to Aristotle Onassis. The main cove consists of pretty, smaller ones on the western side. On the eastern side is a dock for large boats. On the southern part of the island we can see some other coves and a few houses.

Instead of staying in Nidri, we now head towards Meganisi Island, found to the south of Skorpios and practically stuck to the southeastern tip of Levkada, separated by a strait. We pass by Kapsali Bay on Meganisi and then enter the small bay until the beach at Limni.

We then pass by Atherinos Bay, at whose mouth is a small beach with a restaurant. We finally stop to have lunch in Loutrolimni.

Meganisi Island consists of a long strip of land on the southern end and is fairly similar on both the eastern and western sides.

The immense Papadakis cave is found on the southwestern side of Meganisi. Large tourist boats often enter the cave. Returning towards Nidri, we can see Levkada Island’s southeastern cape.

Upon reaching Nidri, in front of the entrance to the bay, we can see the first port with a lot of boats. The bay is very deep with fairly clear, deep water and with a lot of boats anchoring there.

Lastly, we can see the church at the entrance to the bay. We also take a photo from outside the bay towards that same entrance where the small church can be found.
