Salt is only gathered for private use; most is imported from Saint Maura. Girls from Paxos carry clay jars full of salt water to their homes where they let the water evaporate in small, old recipients or troughs to later gather the salt.“
We did not see the oven used to burn lime in Porto Spuzzo. However, we did see an abandoned one on the road from Porto Gaios to Loggos, found just after leaving Gaios’ new port.
