Coal

Lo que dice el Arxiduc:

“With the aim of providing coal at the same price as that found in other Mediterranean ports, such as Gibraltar, Algeria, Malta and Port-Said, it would be very useful for the boats in Bizerte to have something to transport back, whether minerals or phosphates. For this, a specific train would be needed to transport them economically, something which has been discussed these last few years.

If this project is carried out, stocks of 200 to 300,000 tonnes of coal would be available for the navy at Bizerte and other ports… This would bring prosperity to Bizerte and great benefits for Tunisia because the mineral products would be exported at a good price.”

Archduke Ludwig Salvator of Austria, Bizerte, J. Rothschild, Paris, 1900 (Prague, 1897)

Datos proyecto Nixe III:

The Archduke’s accurate vision of the future is certainly worth noting, especially given his times. The idea of ensuring that cargo ships returned to the city is still a fundamental logistics concern. We don’t have any data available about the primary merchandise transported to and from Bizerte’s port.
