In terms of mammals, we shall first address the domesticated variety: some oxen and horses, many donkeys and mules, pigs, sheep, dogs and cats which we will discuss in more detail further on. On the island, there are also numerous bats, wild rabbits, some hares, weasels and rats. The presence of dolphins is also common in nearby waters. Seals, in particular, Phoca vitulina, appear equally frequently along the coasts, seeking refuge in the numerous existing caves with access to the sea.
