Hi there!!
Today, first day in Lípari, we start to include in this blog information that can be compared with the Archduk’s books (see “book summaries” or “archduk & contributions”). We recommend reading this information to those who may be interested in discovering possible differences. In capitals you will find the key words that will allow you to find relevant information in the book sumaries.
This morning we had the chance to meet Claudio in a little bar place in the beach at Pignataro’s port. Claudio is a seaman that has spent more than 20 years sailing through the Mediterranean Sea in his alpha 11. Thanks to him we have contacted with Pietro and Flavia Lo Cascio. Pietro, who is also a researcher and knows in depth the Lípari Islands and the Archduk’s works, and Flavia will be from tomorrow part of our team.
CITY OF LIPARI
About Lípari we should point out the zone of the Castle and the Cathedral. The entry to the castle has been preserved the same way in which the Archduk described it. All the area is beautiful, we find some churches, some museums, and several archeological sites.

Saint Bartholomew’s Cathedral was contructed during the 12th century by the Normands. The cloyster, of the same time, is not to be missed. Barbarossa destoryed the Cathedral and made 5.000 prisoners that moved to Turkey. Then Emperor Charles V reconstructed and improved the Cathedral.
Wlaking through Via Garibaldi we arrive at Marina Curta, and then we get to see the church of the Anime del Purgatorio. This is one of the most impactful moments of the day. Pietro Lo Cascio has offered us a book where where we can see the evolution.

WALKING TOURS
During the afternoon Flavia has taken us to some places around Lípari. Minnulita tower is just a couple of miles away. Nowadays it is inhabited by the son of the Pharmacist and hi wife.
Annuziata’s Church is placed along the old road of Pianoconte. As you will have probably guessed we have counted the number of stairs as the Archduk did.
The thermal baths of San Calogero were already used by the Greeks and the Romans. Nowadays the old building of the 19th century is abandoned. No one is willing to exploit it. In the way we found a wonderful view of Vulcano from Quatrocchi.
Best wishes!
