Lo que dice el Arxiduc:

“On the right side of the canal, the land is fertile, and trees grow very quickly. Pine trees spread their shady crowns; palm trees rise up majestically and provide light shade over the white koubbas. European villas are surrounded by eucalyptus trees and casuarinas, while Mesembryanthemum caninum grows along the edges of the canal.

The area also produces magnificent vegetables, fruits of all kinds and excellent raisins. Large radishes are also grown with a sweet, very unique flavour. Land here is very expensive; a hectare can cost from 1,000 to 2,000 francs. Unfortunately, it’s not like that on the other side, along the Mateur road!”

Archduke Ludwig Salvator of Austria, Bizerte, J. Rothschild, Paris, 1900 (Prague, 1897)

Datos proyecto Nixe III:

The area around the canal has been completely developed, both on the side where Bizerte’s new city is as well as around Zarzouna canal.
