Bakar is found on the northern end of the bay. It is a beautiful small town, today with approximately 800 inhabitants. It is in a privileged setting. Worth noting in the town, above all else, are the castle and the church we already described.
For many years, the bay hosted numerous spas, but industrialisation would leave its mark in the 20 th century. We see some heavy industrial areas along the shores of the bay.
More recently, in the last few years, a large highway is being built through the mountains behind Bakar, a highway which doesn’t go unnoticed.
The print, “Bakar from the heights” was taken from the mountain just behind Bakar. Today, on that same spot from where the image was taken is a large hanging curve for the highway being built around the entire Bay of Bakar.
