“On the inner slope of Mount Babni are unique vines protected in a not very deep groove; but on the outer slope it is full of ashy, cracked rocks amongst which not even the humble bramble or the aromatic sage bush can grow. Although the rocks on the ground seem disorderly, in fact, seen from afar, they are arranged according to deep strata. From these hills, there is a precious view of all the Porto Rè (Kraljevica) peninsula and the faraway Bay of Kotor and Dalmatian mountains, pale in the distance. And, if during the siesta, the hot air flutters and the sea is radiant with its full shine, at that moment, the nature our eyes contemplate can easily be confused with a grandiose chimera. You will want to stay hours and hours at these heights, seeing in the distance how young goatherds tend to their goats while the graceful young girls, sit still and tranquilly, meditating and looking into the distance. They are so immobile, in fact, that they can be confused with statues though, every now and then, one makes a shrill call to the goats which bleat and lazily head back.”

We weren’t able to climb Mount Babni and so couldn’t take pictures of Kraljevica from there. However, we did take photos from the sea towards Kraljevica with the sides of Mount Babni in the distance. Kraljevica is located on a small bay within one of the entrances to the larger bay and natural port of Bakar / Kraljevica.
In Kraljevica, Frangipani Castle stands out first, followed by the large shipyards which occupy the right side of this small bay.
