Cala Figuera Lighthouse

01/09/2014

A few months ago we reicived this image from one of the photographers involved in the project; you can imagine the envy caused to the other members of NIXE III  in the offices of the foundation "FIAyC" www.fiayc.org  (sponsor of this project). We must remember that Mallorca has some spectacular and magical sights, that with only a background-sunset make us admire and dream about its history.

Cala Figuera Lighthouse was designed by Emili Pou in 1860. Located in Calvia, in the area called El Toro is one of the most beautiful landscapes of southern of the island from the sea and from land .

A century later, in 1962, major renovations left the building as we know it today with its black and white stripes features.

There was only a shipwreck on this lighthouse; It was April 1st, 1953 when the ship "City of Palma" of the shipping company "Transmediterránea" ran aground on the "Punta de Mulà".

Take a look at this 360° picture in the WEB of "Faros de Baleares".
